Population
Another major man-made cause of Global Warming is population. More people means more food, more electricity being used, more methods of transportation, more everything. That means more greenhouse gasses will be produced because there will be more burning of fossil fuels, and more agriculture. Another problem with the increasing population is transportation. More people means more cars, and more cars means more pollution. Percentage of all humans who own a car is 8% and the percentage of American households who own one or more cars is 89%. This shows that it has a great impact on the US. In 2008 the US population was 301.23 million and in 2012 november the US population was 314.69. The US population is growing at 2 million each year. As time passes the US population will drastically increase, and therefor population will have a greater contribution towards global warming. Also as the US being the 3rd most populous country in the world, population has a greater impact on global warming in the US compared to most countries.
As you should have learnt from science lessons, we breath out carbon dioxide. As the population increases there will be more people breathing out carbon dioxide and therefor increasing the amount of carbon dioxide in the air. Also, the trees that convert our carbon dioxide to oxygen. Because of deforestation trees are being demolished, because we're using the land that we cut the trees down for residential, commercial, and industrial purposes. American forests are already a fraction of what they used to be. It is estimated that 90 % of the virgin old-growth forests have been cleared away in the past 400 years. We are constantly taking advantage of our natural resources and giving nothing back in return.
